Registration

SPHA Membership

Membership of the SPHANZ costs just $20

Our membership year runs from 1st July through to the 30th June. All memberships are due for renewal on July 1st each year.

Becoming a member of SPHANZ is a requirement of registering a horse with the Association.

Annual renewal is recommended but not compulsory until you have another horse to register.

Once you have become a member we will add you to our mailing list to receive emails and newsletters to keep you updated on what is happening with the association (you may opt out of the mailing list at any time).

When you apply to become a member you will first need to be approved by the committee, then you will receive an invoice for a membership, and upon paying the invoice you will have all the rights of the membership category assigned to you.

Registering a Horse / Pony

The Sport and Performance Horse Association of New Zealand is approved by the FEI to issue passports

All horses registered with the SPHANZ will receive an international horse passport.

The horse passport we issue is a similar format to the New Zealand Warmblood Association issued horse passports. These are 40- page booklets which certify the breeding and identity of your horse or pony. All horses and ponies are issued with a UELN (unique equine life number). The passport also specifies the breed registry that your equine has been registered into with the Sport and Performance Horse Association of NZ.

SPHANZ will not dual register any horse that is all ready registered with a Stud Book who issues UELN numbers.

The passport is also a travel and bio-security document. It holds the ownership record, medication controls and vaccination history of your horse which are all required for international travel.

Studbook classifications, ESNZ / Sport registrations, height controls and competition information can also be recorded in the passport. It is an all-in-one lifetime document.
